HAUPPAUGE, NY — Charles Ross & Son Company (ROSS) is providing large-scale powder dispersion technology through its mixer's solid/liquid injection manifold (SLIM) technology. The solution can quickly and effectively release the powder into low-viscosity liquids, such as emulsions, aqueous solutions, resins, oils, and melted waxes.

The company stated that it can add SLIM technology to its VersaMix model VM-600 (a dual-shaft mixer) to generate strong suction, "drawing solids under the surface directly into the high-shear zone." This will cause the powder to "wet out" faster and can reduce agglomeration, floating powder or dust.

After adding powder, VM-600 can control the increased viscosity with the help of a double-wing anchor with a Teflon scraper. This process produces a thick gel, paste, or slurry. The company also pointed out that VersaMix can also be equipped with a third mixer.

The hybrid solution is operated via a 15-inch HMI [Human Machine Interface] touch screen. The system can record custom recipes based on speed, time, temperature and vacuum pressure for accurate batching. The mixer control panel can also manage digital valve control, batch ticket printing, pumps and load cells, and other programming functions.
